Herbi-Systems, Inc. captured two Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) Barty Awards during the 2nd annual event on July 9 at Colonial Country Club. The company won for customer service and marketing, claiming two of the three categories entered.
“We at the chamber couldn’t be more excited for Kenny and the entire Herbi-Systems team. Winning two awards is quite an accomplishment, especially when you’re up against the “Best of the Best,” said BACC President John Threadgill. “Here’s a guy who makes a living exterminating weeds and yet has managed to become a recognizable household face throughout the entire Memphis area and has grown his business into the largest locally-owned lawn care provider in the market.”
During the awards presentation, humorous Chamber representatives dressed to reflect each category including a purple cow. Director of Membership Services Jerry Dupree threw smiley faces on each table to introduce the “Kill ‘Em with Kindness” award in recognition of excellence in customer service. Herbi-Systems edged out finalist contenders Travel Leaders, BancorpSouth, Yuletide Office Solutions and Memphis Funeral Home to claim the award. According to Bartlett Chamber’s Director of Marketing and Communications Krista Antonuk, “We had numerous impressive entries for ‘Kill ‘Em With Kindness,’ making it one of our most competitive categories.”
It is the policy of Herbi-Systems to call back each customer after every service, which adds up to 60,000 calls annually as well as surveys to track customer satisfaction. Herbi-Systems has an A+ Better Business Bureau rating and is an Angie’s List Super Service Award recipient (2011-2012).
Herbi-Systems also won the marketing award entitled, “Purple Cow,” beating ATC Fitness, Kelley and Associates, First South Financial and Chick-Fil-A.
President and owner Kenny Crenshaw’s “Lemme Kill Your Weeds®” slogan is recognized not only in Memphis but also in Kentucky and D.C. His aggressive marketing campaign, coupled with an integrated communications plan, shut out fellow finalists to capture the award.
Each entrant in the Barty awards submitted summaries and supporting evidence giving reasons as to why his or her company deserved to win. More than 100 total nominations were submitted in 11 categories, according to Antonuk. Categories also included Sales Shark of the Year, Wheel Greaser (community development), Tree Hugger (energy efficient/conservation programs), Nerdy Birdie (technical and social media savvy), Gazelle Chaser (innovative business), Social Butterfly (networking/business development), Butt Buster (volunteerism and civic involvement), Boo-Boo Fixer (healthcare services), and Best Local Publication. All winners received a nice plaque and congratulations from Bartlett Chamber President John Threadgill.
